Strong Telecom Players?

Hi all - don't mean to add to the rankings games that have been going on but think this is a little more nuanced. Generally curious to see who the strong telecom players are - since the vertical is housed within TMT and M&T groups, do these overarching groups matter more to experience/progression or should it really be vertical specific? Targeting telecom specifically and heading into an M7 program this fall. Thanks in advance!

yeah, tons of vertical integration in the sector. the cable companies are betting the house they’ll be able to create content on par with netflix to cross-sell their services. but looking at att’s hilarious hbo max launch im not sure that was the best use of $100bn. l

anyway, tons of m&a in media rn, which im sure is part of the reason why banks separated t from m&t. just look at liontree - they only do media and a deal of theirs is in the news every other week. shit deals still pay fees (see: viacom/cbs)

definitely an extremely interesting space to be in right now. honestly have no clue how the streaming wars will end up shaping the industry. have a feeling it might end up with history repeating itself - too fragmented (as cable once was) and consumers aren’t going to want to pay for 15 different new-age channels branding themselves as streaming platforms, just as they did with cable. up rises a netflix 2.0, rinse repeat. or maybe it is a winner-take-all after all. would be cool to start a discussion on this
