Career Resources
I have worked with them directly and I don’t like their UW standards as a lender - their sponsors have questionable backgrounds, seemed to be people who couldn’t get financing elsewhere at times, and a bunch of their own NNN loans to themselves. Not a fan of their culture personally, but just my opinion, not sure about other parts of their biz.
If they are lending to those that no one else is lending to, that makes sense. They do tons of high yield and therefore high risk stuff. If you are the only lender to step up, you can get a juicy yield.
Sweat shop
Know a couple guys. Bridge and cmbs shop.
You'd work on all sorts of deals.. literally anything imaginable (balance sheet, cmbs, all assets, senior/mezz/equity). Smart mgmt (public - listen to earnings, CEO is incredibly sharp), sweat shop as the other guy said... juniors reportedly crushed. Unsure specifically what the ranges are (AN/AS etc) but partly renown for very heavy comp. Hear of vp ish level clipping 400-700k. Look at LinkedIn (where ppl came from and where they went after)... Benefit Street is mostly all Ladder guys, a few others have left to banks (JP, Barclays I think) and I know a couple at Apollo now.
sorry would also add,.. infamous hard culture / heavy turnover.
Chaos is a ladder and judging by the responses here, so is Ladder Capital.
