My first summer internship was unpaid. As long as you're not being abused there, take the no-pay in my opinion. The money you'll lose out on in the summer is a drop in the bucket when compared to your IB gig in junior/senior summer. Go for it imo. Just make sure you make it worthwhile - keep networking and don't get complacent - bust your arse until you get the IB offer sophomore year for the junior summer.
I still managed to have fun fresh and soph, but devoted lots of time to networking/prep. It paid off. Junior and sr year was eassssy.
I’d echo this. Use the unpaid internship to get relevant experience
