URGENT: I am too late to get a Summer Internship?

Hello fellow monkeys,

I hope everyone is doing well. I am a junior undergraduate student at a non-target, with a very high interest in pursuing a career at IB. I am also a member of the two Honors Program at my school. I started networking on LinkedIn since the end of my freshman year. I participated in the CFA Research challenge representing my school - valuable experience! Currently working towards my FMVA certification by CFI. I made it to all the rounds at a well-known IB bank (think of Citi or Barclays or BOA or Credit Suisse) for SA Program but did not get invited to Super Day. I had a couple of internships as Financial Advisor at two financial services companies.

As for my background, I am a Hispanic immigrant who came to the US in 2014 and did not speak English at all. I practiced every day and made a lot of sacrifices during the process but it was worth it. I ended graduating from high school with High Honors. Parents did not know about the college application process so I started the research by myself - Google was my friend - and networking with everyone to learn more about it. I ended getting accepted to 7/8 colleges I applied for - which makes me thankful. In college, I am really involved in campus, holding many leadership positions, including the founder of the Spanish club - as a first-year student. I have a 3.7 GPA and a minor in Bus. Analytics. By the way, I go to school in PA but I live in NJ (close to NYC). I also speak Portuguese (Conversational) and trying to learn Chinese (two years of experience).

I am aware that most formal internship programs are filled at this point, and given the circumstances, I was hoping to get an opportunity at a small Boutique, as I would obviously prefer having a banking internship, but no luck so far. Days are passing by and I am starting to feel frustrated. I would really like to hear any advice you guys have to give. Thank you!

---- Stay safe and healthy! Best wishes to all of you! ----

It's very unlikely, but at this point, it really doesn't matter. If anyone asks why you have no internship experience, a global health pandemic is about as good of an excuse as any, and everyone will understand.

Realistically, even small boutiques would either be full or are cancelling/ putting hiring on hold given the overall situation. I suggest even finding some kind of small financial planning office near you; if they can pay you something, great, but if not, work for free if you can swing it financially to get some experience (maybe you can do some part time work and part time intern/ work experience with them). I know it isn't ideal, but keep grinding. In your free time, upskill yourself and network like crazy. Find people you are interested in speaking to on LinkedIn. Good luck
