Want normal PE, but have REPE offer. What do I do?
Hi everyone, it's big decision time for me and I would greatly appreciate some life advice.
Currently I'm a senior at a target with a GS/JPM/BAML/MS banking summer under my belt. I didn't get a return offer for a variety of reasons—but it was not at all due to a lack of technical skills.
My long term goal is to end up in "normal" PE (MF, MM, or LMM), but I have a full time REPE offer at a regional fund. I realize REPE is quite niche and less than conducive to joining normal PE, so I don't know if I should take this offer or keep looking.
I'm willing to do 1-1.5 years of REPE and then start all over as an analyst at a normal PE shop. But is this possible? I could supplement this by taking CompSci courses at a local uni
Should I delay graduation? Should I get a masters in CompSci or data science? I'm on a full undergrad scholarship so these options are expensive, but I'd bet on myself
What should I do?
