What do SF Bankers wear?

Hey all,

I recruited virtually for a SA 2021 role in SF (tech IB) and didn't get to visit the office or anyone there in person.

I'm from the east coast so I'm wondering - do people in SF Bay Area really dress more casually than New York? Like t shirts and jeans? Or is that just a tech stereotype? How do bankers dress/ what do they wear in SF IB?

Apologies for the trivial question, but this has been on my mind and I feel it's stupid to ask someone at the firm.

Thanks!

Typically at the analyst/associate level my office was dress shirt and pants Monday/Tuesday and then flannel and chinos type of outfit Wednesday/Thursday with Friday being fair game for anything (hoodies,T-shirts, jeans, hats). 1st years tend to dress up more frequently while 2nd and 3rd years wear what they want all week long. Most analysts that are from California also seem to own one or more pairs of Allbirds that make frequent appearances.

Would it be weird to show up in a full suit and shoes the first day? Im an incoming SA in the bay area also and I'd want to make a good impression but not overdress
