What Similar Field Can I Get Into If I Like Investment Banking But Am Too Old?
Dear Forum,
I am interested in Investment Banking but at age 35 believe I am too old to break in. Are their similar fields in finance that teach you the same skills as an investment banker that I could consider trying to break into?
Sincerely,
1 Billion Bound Stallion
Have you considered an MBA? What's your professional background?
bump for interest
Probably too old to be an analyst. Depending on your current work experience, look at being an operating parter at a PE/VC?
Finance divisions of larger companies? Not saying it's going to be just like IB, but some of them seem to be doing typical IB (M&A for example) work themselves. It would help to have a background from banking, but from what I've seen it can be a mixed bunch.
Or maybe analyst/trader/broker in the industry? Just pick your commodity of interest, and see what's out there. I know people that started out as analysts at various energy and utility companies, and then made the move to finance post-MBA.
