What would be my best shot?

Hello folks,

I need your advise. I want to know what career options I have. I am doing my part-time MBA at George Washington University with finance concentration and I will graduate next May. I graduated from a regional university with accounting degree. Unfortunately, I do not have public accounting experience. I wanted to have a job at Big 4 but I did poorly at my undergraduate (2.99 GPA), job market was really bad when I graduated, and I was foolish enough not to prepare for it early. I did not know what I was doing. Big Mistake. However, I have some corporate accounting experience and CPA license. Not to make the same mistake, I have studied hard and my graduate GPA is 3.75 now. I have been thinking and applying jobs in consulting but some folks said that big consulting firms do not hire part-time MBAs as full-time MBAs and I better apply as experience hire. I wonder if that will narrow my chance since I am competing with people who already have experience in consulting. Deloitte S&O Federal comes to my school and I think this is the best I can shoot for. But I am not sure how competitive I am and I can even apply as campus hire.

If career in consulting does not work out for me, what would be the best alternative? Would going public accounting be a good option for me? I have 8 years experience in accounting and finance (currently senior financial analyst). I am not sure going into entry level public accounting position would be good for me.

I wish I have friends or mentors that I can ask these question. None of my families and friends have any knowledge in this area. So please help me. I appreciate your advise.

Thanks
