People from non targets break in all the time, you just have to network. Do a search.
I would strongly advise you not pursue law unless you are certain that you have a genuine interest in the field. I have seen way too many friends and colleagues default to law school because they had no idea what they wanted to do with their lives. The education is highly specialized and very expensive (not to mention the opp cost of 3 years of studying for something that you do not want to ultimately do). People will argue that a JD is extremely versatile but I would strongly disagree. As a disclaimer, IBs do hire fresh JDs out of law school as associates.
you have a competitive profile. I would apply to IB/finance jobs and maybe also apply to some top 5 law schools. Harvard Law School would obviously open doors in a variety of fields. Good luck to you.
have you checked your stats against lsn?

i know that cornell had a ridiculous increase in applicants, but im not sure about any other surges at t14/t6 schools. could be pretty competitive again next year

I did. My GPA is 4.08 when standardized by the Law School Admissions Council since they give extra weight to A+'s, and I have a 170 LSAT on first attempt. Plus I have minority status. As long as I don't write a stupid PS I think I have a very strong shot at acceptance. Plus my LSAT score was (4 points) below my practice average so I'm confident that need be (and I don't think it will) I could very probably score higher on a retake. Long story I am very confident at admission to HLS, but I'd rather work at in finance and go to business school (maybe JD/MBA) than do a JD, Im just not sure if I can accomplish the former as easily as the latter.
dude just like westfald said. people break in.... My opinion, you have to just not have such a by-the-book formal recruiting minded approach at this point. Network like crazy and apply for FT. You say you go to school in NYC and it is public.... so NYC where? Manhattan, brooklyn, queens? You said public, so you don't go to NYU or columbia.......Do you go to Baruch? or City College? because if you go to baruch... IB's do recruit there
+1 If it is Baruch then you have a semi decent shot at IB recruiting.
-1 If i was at baruch and actually had my GPA I don't think I would be asking this question to begin with. Therein lies the dilemma.
IMO, HYS law schools will open many many doors for you.
