Those are two very different goals and based on the title of this thread and you asking the question I can likely conclude the latter is highly unlikely.
In regards to the first question, you can certainly achieve this goal from either school (especially if you view all BBs the same. I would probably shade towards Yale, but think it likely will come down to you as a candidate rather than the school.
I'd say you can likely get into investment banking from either school with a slight edge given to Yale. However, breaking into private equity will likely prove very challenging.
People have a hard time breaking into PE even from Wharton but I won't say it's impossible. There are certainly some outliers.
However, IB is very achievable from either. I would pick Cornell solely because of their strong IB immersion and connections.
