Dan has been scoring in the top percentile on standardized tests since he took the SSAT at the age of 13. He has a knack for breaking down complicated concepts in a simple, yet memorable way. He has also always had a passion for passing his knowledge on to others, and has consistently tutored students in SAT and GMAT prep for many years. In Dan's experience, the key to improving a student's score is making the learning process fun. An engaged mind retains information many times better than a bored one, so Dan works hard to make his sessions lively and interactive. Dan's students often remark that he is able to help them understand GMAT concepts and strategies more deeply and remember them more clearly than after they read them in a book.
Dan was born in Moscow, Russia, where he lived until the age of nine, when his family relocated to the Boston area. Dan's rapid mastery of the English language, combined with his natural aptitude for standardized tests, allowed him to achieve a near-perfect score on the SSAT, which paved the way for his admittance to Milton Academy in Milton Massachusetts. After Milton, Dan was admitted to the selective Mathematical Methods in Social Sciences (MMSS) program at Northwestern University, from which he later graduated with a double major in MMSS and Economics.
After graduation, Dan spent several years working as a management consultant at Oliver Wyman in Chicago and volunteering his time in San Francisco to aid an online microfinance non-profit called Kiva.org. Dan now works as an investment professional with a leveraged buyout fund in Boston, and is a contributor to WSO, primarily in the area of Private Equity.
