Below is a rough guide to sales and trading salaries at various levels of seniority. From analysts to associates to managing directors, sales and trading pay is traditionally heavily weighted toward the bonus portion of the compensation since performance is measured much easier in S&T when compared to other careers in finance.
Most levels of sales and trading offer less hours than their investment banking equivalent since often they are market-dependent. Most S&T professionals specialize in a specific product or industry and over years of training and guide from mentors, eventually becoming experts.
The sales and trading salaries for senior S&T professionals is much more variable than those of their junior counterparts, and is usually a function of the individual and division performance since it is much easier to set compensation off of a traders P&L performance.
