Summer Associate

Applied through campus recruiting, got notification from the Bain office. These were back to back interviews, both with managers at the office. The standard fit section and then a case in each segment, with a great amount of time spent on Bain's culture and plenty of opportunity to brag about yourself. It was a positive atmosphere in both cases—nobody was really seeking to grill you. The interview notification emphasized that we were not interviewing for one specific office, and indeed, the first interviewer checked to confirm that this was the case. The cases were very difficult and went through several different phases, with one interviewer being much more stone-faced throughout than the other. It was clearly a front, though, and when I got feedback, the stone-faced interviewer turned out to be very warm and encouraging.
