Interview
Had two associate interviewers at the same time. Used to be back to back 1 on 1 interviews in the past. People get invited to different numbers of interviews between 1-3 for the first round with EIT, M&A and diversified teams.

The successful candidates will be invited to a second round in the following week.

Started with self-intro of the interviewers, then some typical behaviourals on CV, why IB. Then moved to behaviourals. Mostly IB 400 questions on accounting, LBO, and what teams are you interested in.
Interview Questions
N/A, all typical IB 400 questions. Nothing too unexpected.

Interview
Started with HR reaching out to set up a 10-minute phone screener. HR was very nice, screener was just Tell me about yourself, why CIBC, why S&T, what makes you different, and a visa question. I then got the round 1 invite two days later, which was with one ED and one analyst. Both were on technical desks, so the interview was more Q&A. Towards the end, a brainteaser was asked.
Interview Questions
Brainteaser was a "game". Take turns adding a number from 1 to 10; the first person to hit 60 wins. I was also asked about very specific things on my resume such a M&A research I had done
