Please describe the interview / hiring process.
The interview is a standard process. I had 2 rounds of 1 on 1 interviews with Associate/VP. The first person asked me about my resume and deal experience, since I was an analyst in a different company. Other fit questions included: "Why Citi IBD?", "What are your strengths/weaknesses?", "How can you apply what you learned in your previous experience?", and "What are your hobbies?" (Nothing out of the ordinary). The second was slightly more difficult because I was asked questions more detailed questions about my experience, such as "What is the market size of x industry?" (I came from a coverage group.), "What are some of the things you have to pay attention to when making comps?", "Explain what DCF is and the logic behind each component of the formula." (I am from FIG so it's been a while!), etc. All in all, I think if you know your resume, deal experience, and the technicals involved as an analyst, then you can pass the interview. Since it was not through recruiting, you have to convince the interviewer that you can pick-up on things quickly and start contributing right away, and that you would "fit-in". As for perceptions of the people, they were professional and intelligent. My overall impression was "neutral".
