Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I met 1 on 1 with 10 different members of the IBD. While I was interviewing for a post-MBA position in the M&A group, I had previously met with the Aerospace/Defense coverage team, so in addition to meeting the M&A team, I also met/interviewed with that team. While they were all nice, it was too many people to interview with in one day (with only a short 30min break to find food and eat). A few tried to make it relaxing, but it's an interview, there's only so much that can be done. While they did attempt to let me meet more folks, for an Associate job meeting more usually means more chances to screw up. At this level, many people can say no, while only a few have the power of yes.
