head of capital introductions, Asia

I interviewed for the head of capital introductions at Citigroup in Hong Kong. I was offered the job, accepted, and worked there for a year. The interview consisted of two phases, and about 6 different interviews. First I was interviewed by the ultimate hiring manager, in a somewhat informal meeting. He seemed to make up his mind then, and put me into phase 2, which was more of a series of confirmatory interviews. I met with the head of the prime finance team, I met with 2 people together from operations and client services, I met with one guy from sales that I would be working with closely, and I had 2 individual phone calls with the folks from the Japan office, and then, finally, I had a final interview with the head of sales and trading for all of Asia, a very senior level officer at Citi. I then was told by the recruiter that I would be given an offer, told of the terms, and was asked to take a few days to think about it and give a response. The offer was competitive during that time (financial crisis). There was no real background check that I know of.
