Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Phone Interview: An alumnus of my college gave me a call for a phone interview. Started out with basic fit/behavior type questions. Asked about previous internship experience. Asked about a sport I play. Then moved onto why I wanted to work in Sales and Trading. Why Citi? Products interested in? I have language experience in a foreign language so I was asked a lot of questions about that country. Where do you see the economy going? Investment opportunities? Etc. Overall, it was a challenging phone interview with more market questions than I expected.

In person interview: I received an email shortly after about an in-person interview in NYC. Met with probably 4 sales professionals and 1 trader. First interview was with Mortgage Sales. Asked some technical questions about fixed income and mortgages. Had to pitch an investment of any asset class. The subsequent interviews where all fit/behavior type questions. (academic experiences, internship experiences etc.) One interviewer walked in, sat down, and the first thing he said was "Why should I hire you?" I ended up giving my pitch and he cut me off an responded that this is all crap and that I do not know what I am talking about. Then asked, "sales or trading?" I said trading and explained why and was again cut off. Pretty much tested to see how I would react. He said I did a great job and we ended up having a great conversation.
