1 on 1 Interview
Background Check
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Met EY at campus career fair. They took my resume and kept in touch with me. First round of interviewing was on campus; 3 one-on-one interviews, 30 minutes each. They shared their background and ask about yours. Most of the questions were situation-action-result type questions: e.g., what was the most difficult team project you worked on in school? what was causing the issue and how did you resolve it?

Heard back in about a week or two that I was invited to second round interviews. Second interview was a superday in the EY offices; still 3 one-on-one interviews at 30 minutes each. I expected the second round to be tougher, but it was essentially more of the same. A few fit questions mixed in: how would you deal with a difficult team member on your engagement team? are you a team player? No trick question here: you had better be a team player, because all the projects are team-based.

Received an offer less than 5 days later. Not very negotiable because they make so many offers to so many undergraduates every year - tough to distinguish yourself from the other high-achieving kids.

My understanding is that they do NOT ask technical accounting questions for undergraduate interviews. The belief is that you will learn all the technical accounting in the field.
