Simply put, as a company gets more reviews, the confidence of a "true score" increases so it is pulled closer to its simple average and away from the average of the entire dataset.

Interview
Was in banking--started by meeting with a recruiter, going through resume and interests. Recruiter reached out with interview invite. Consisted of three rounds--1st round was in-person in New York with 4 people from GTCR, going through your resume, asking about your deals and asking general technical questions.

Next round was a modeling test where you had to create a flowing three-statement LBO model largely from scratch within a few hours.

Final rounds were in the Chicago office, where you met with 6-10 people at the office. Firm was very quick about turnaround, and called that night with a verbal offer and had offer letters sent the day after.
Interview Questions
Most difficult question was "how much is this company worth"? The partner had given me a very general description of the business, and asked me to give him a valuation multiple for it. Was open to additional questions around the business qualitatively (e.g. I couldn't ask how much comps were trading for, but could ask what the unit economics were like, the TAM and penetration, etc.) This was a business that was outside the core industry I had been in in my banking career, so seemed like they were really looking for a fundamental valuation framework.

Interview
Met with one partner who quizzed on deals completed, current investment themes and interest in private equity. Cordial the entire time.
Interview Questions
The most difficult questions were centered on my existing deals. I needed to walk through the investment thesis, discuss my role, whether or not I thought it was a good deal, how the company is doing today and if I would do the deal again.
