What did the interview consist of?
1 on 1 Interview

Please describe the interview / hiring process.
- First step was PST.
- Second step was first round with two associates. Each interview involved personal experience questions, why consulting (surprisingly, only one of them asked why McK) and an interviewer-led case. First interview was about helping an African government on how to fix frequent nationwide electric shortages. Second case was again about helping another African government on improving access to vaccines.
- Final step involved three interviews with two APs and one Partner, who is also the head of local office. Format of interviews are pretty similar to first round but texpectations are a bit higher. Also, your personal experience stories will get probed pretty deeply.
A few advices:
- PST is definitely not a cakewalk. I applied for undergraduate role from a target school and almost two-thirds of applicants from our school got dinged. Some of them has GPA > 3.9, so be careful and do your preparation for PST.
- A note, I was NOT interviewing for an African office and McK somehow loves non-profit and public cases. Having a look at such cases might pay off.
- Cases themselves are not difficult compared to other firms but McKinsey puts an even greater emphasis on initial structure.
