The process started in July with an online application. We were notified around mid-August about moving forward in the interview process. The first round began with the Problem Solving Test, which was about the same difficulty as the practice tests on McKinsey's website. Following that was 2 45-min group cases. We were notified about moving on to round 2 about 2-3 days later. Round 2 was 2 1-on-1 interviews with engagement managers, beginning with an experience interview followed by a case. The format was very straightforward and McKinsey provides plenty of preparation in terms of webinars and assigning you a McKinsey buddy. My buddy spent time practicing a case with me and providing feedback. Overall, it was a very positive experience from the organizational skills of the recruiters to the friendliness of the interviewers. I would advise practicing as many interviewer-led cases as possible before going into your first interview.
