First round was an online cognitive assessment. Went through multiple simulations. My understanding was that it was to get an idea of how you think. It wasn't clear exactly how you were scored during it. The second round was two back-to-back half hour case studies over zoom. I did not make it past that round.
Interview Questions
There wasn't really anything unexpected. The case study was rigorous though. They asked a lot of follow up questions.

Interview
I went through the MBA campus recruiting process. Leading up to the interview, they paired me up with an associate to practice case studies and give advice. They also provided access to cases to study which were helpful.

First round: two different interviews with engagement managers (1 on 1) both online one after the other. Each interviewer asked one personal experience interview question followed by a case study question.

Second/ final round: in-person at their offices and consisted of three interviews with three different partners. Same format as the previous round where each interviewer asked me a personal experience question followed by a case study.

For the case studies, no calculator - just pen and paper. Each interview was around 45 mins to 1 hr. The interviewers really ranged in personality; some were very serious and asked a lot of pressing questions while others were very engaged and collaborative. There is limited time to complete each case so it is important to be efficient and as structured as possible. The case studies ranged and were all completely different in topic, industry, style. I think it is important to be very communicative and be able to think on your feet.
Interview Questions
One of the case studies was about a jewelry company and assessing their operational performance including e-commerce and brick-and-mortar. Several graphs and data were provided to draw conclusions and answers from. There were questions about the strategy, and important customer metrics, including several analytical and calculation questions.

I had two case studies with two different employees both lasting about 1 hour. The first 30 minutes was for behavioral questions and the last 30 minutes were going through the cases. The math was harder than expected. I received an email a week before to schedule the interview. The interviewers were nice, but I received a phone call within a couple days to say what I could have done better.

Difficult. The cases on the McKinsey website are the most accurate to what you will actually see. Do not be surprised if you are redirected or told you’re wrong throughout the interview.
