Product Manager Intern

I met the head technical recruiter an industry dinner my student group hosted and maintained conversation with him from November until January, when the official info session was held. He then pointed me to the business recruiter and it seemed like they pursued me instead of the other way around, so I got lucky with that. Normally, you have to be persistent with recruiters or have a friend on the inside get you an introduction. So it helped to be uber involved with student groups and have a presence on campus.

I had several preliminary in-person meetings and phone calls before the first round interview, which explains why many peers in my business fraternity and friends in general didn't get the interview (despite having similar student groups on their resume as me). Super day comes along, and they fly me up to Redmond. I'm by far the youngest there - everyone was a rising senior, graduated senior, super-senior or MBA. It was a pretty intense say with 5 back-to-back, 50-min long interviews that started at 7:30am. During the interview, I had to draw scenarios on the board. Seemed like management consulting at a tech company, which is essentially what the internship was.
