Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I went to the career fair held at my school and I talked with a PwC associate. This associate referred me to the hiring manager thereafter. I emailed the hiring manager in regards to certain programs that the firm offered and asked if I would qualify for any of them. I only asked the hiring manager this question because the internship would fall right after my sophomore year and in most cases PwC doesn’t give internships until you’re one year from graduating NOT three. After the inquiry to the hiring manager, I was notified that I may qualify for an internship, but I would need to send my resume in to make sure I was qualified academically. I sent my resume in and received an email shortly after that the hiring manager would like to talk to me over the phone about the internship. We talked for about 10 minutes about the firm and what the internship was. After our conversation, I was told that I would have an on campus interview with the firm. However, due to some conflicts the on campus interview never happened. I received a 30 min phone interview with a tax manager. This first interview was used as a screening method and the manager asked a lot of questions to see if I was a good “fit” for the firm and asked primarily questions pertaining to my resume. Once the phone interview was over, the same day I was notified that I would be receiving a firm interview in the next 2 weeks. The firm interview consisted of three 1:1 interviews. I interviewed with 2 managers and 1 partner all in various different parts of the firm (I.E. IT&PA, Risk Assurance, Tax Consulting). These interviews are basically you having an intelligent conversation while trying to sell yourself. Try and find common ground with the interviewer and you both will have a more relaxed interview and they will be able to tell you’re a good fit for the firm. After the interviews, our assigned buddy (an associate in Assurance) for the day took us out to lunch. This is a key part of the interview process; they really want to know that you can fit into a social setting with their younger associates, but also present yourself in a professional manner. After finishing my interviews and once lunch was over I was told we would receive a notification within the next week. It only took 2 days and I received the offer for Internal Firm Service Intern. Tips for potential interns: Have enthusiasm, know the firm, be prepared to hold a conversation/make conversation in a professional setting, show more enthusiasm, show them you can build relationships (this is a professional service firm relationship building is key), and be yourself and relax.
