Please describe the interview / hiring process.
After an info session at my school the application opened. About 5 days after application closed I received and email to conduct a phone interview. Phone interview was 30 min and consisted of behavioural questions like "when was a time you dealt with conflict in a group", "when was a time you had to use 2 different communication styles to interact with someone in a group". All questions were about ability to work in team, deal with conflict, and manage priorities. About 3 days later I received an email about the in person full day interview and reception the night before. Reception was a cocktail party with recruiters, a couple partners, and new associates. Networking and drinks (basically seeing how you interact in a social setting). Full day interview was from 9am - 3pm and consisted of a written case, group interview, inductive reasoning test, and partner interview. Written case - 30 min case with about 10 pages of information. You don't have time to read everything but have to pick out the important points. They only mark what you have down so make sure you use very good business writing and have a good structure (Problem, Analysis, Recommendation, Expected Benefits). Group case is similar to written case in content but totally different process. You are in a group of 5-6 people with 2 evaluators in the room. The evaluators simply watch and do not interact except for instructions at the beginning. You have 20 min to read case silently then have 30 min to work out a solution as a team. Everyone is given a unique piece of info so you have to go around and find out what each person has. The key is to be vocal and persuasive, while also being very positive and supportive of everyone else. Bonus points for asking people their opinions, bringing quiet people into the discussion, offering to keep time, etc. Logical reasoning test is shapes and patterns stuff. Look up P&Gs tests for help with this. Practice before and remember that once again they only mark what you complete. So don't do all 40 questions in the 20 min allotted and get 30/40. Thats stupid. If you answer 30 and get 29 right you have a way higher score than answering all 40 and getting 34 right. Partner interview is conversation and some behavioural questions. Have more than your standard 3 questions for this one as most of the interview is a conversation that can last anywhere from 45 min to 1.5 hours. Keep the conversation going and always try to display the image that 1. you are smart, 2. you are humble, 3. you are fun to be around, 4. you are positive, 5. you are someone that partner wouldn't mind spending 10 hours a day with. Lunch and drinks are served throughout the day and in-between assessments. Remember to be friendly and professional every moment of the day. Got an offer the night of the final interview.
