Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Applied through OCR website for position, and was selected for an interview. Interview was mostly relaxed: Tell me about yourself, some behavioral questions, do you understand what our group does, etc. On the technical side, asked about oil prices, reasons for current low refinery output (my answer related to supply and demand, the reasoning for which he seemed satisfied with, but actual reason was maintenance turnarounds), and most importantly, whether I understood basic options principles, including whether an E&P would use calls or puts to hedge production, and if the options would be in or out of the money depending on market prices.

I was emailed a few weeks later regarding a follow-up phone call, after two phone calls of casual conversation about the group and the markets, I received an offer letter the following week.

Work culture proved to be poor, with one in over his head associate handling all of the group's administrative and grunt work, and desperate for relief in the form of this intern hire. There was a surprising degree of negative sentiment expressed about the company directly from senior personnel, and people worried about losing there jobs in the downturn.
