Interview
I interviewed with Simmons & Co for a full-time IB analyst position. The process took a total of about 3 weeks. I reached out to an associate via LinkedIn, scheduled a call, and he subsequently passed my resume to HR. I was then formally invited to a superday. The superday went really well; I was quizzed pretty heavily on technicals during one two portions of the interview process, one of which included a paper test in which I was made to fill in answers for some easy EV problems. During the other portion, they asked me the general DCF and valuation questions - nothing too hard. Unfortunately, I heard back about 4 days later and they told me I didn't get the offer.
Interview Questions
They had me fill in the answers to calculate Enterprise Value and to calculate several multiples. They then subsequently asked me to compare the two companies and to describe why I found one more risky than the other to invest in. There weren't any super specific oil and gas oriented questions if I recall correctly, but the general 'walk me through a DCF' questions were asked. Also, they asked me about my favorite industry to invest in and then asked me to pitch a stock in that industry and to give reasons why I saw it as a viable investment using info applicable to investment banking. For example, multiples of various variables, etc.

Interview
Reached out to one of the VP in the summer and got into the process through an unexpected cold email. Seemed to focus a lot on both fit and interest in living in Houston. In the end, received the phone interview and thought it went well, but couldn't make it to the second round. Not sure what went wrong, but very much focused interning in Houston and the oil & gas industry.
Interview Questions
Why has the price of oil gone down? How does tax rate affect the final enterprise value in a DCF valuation?

Interview
Everything is in reference to MBA recruiting. The bank came on campus to do a presentation. Since this is a Houston-based bank, they came only once. After the initial presentation, everything was left up to us. I gathered contacts at the bank's presentation, got advice and contacts from 2nd years, and then began reaching out to as many of the bankers at Simmons as I could while preparing as fast as I could for the technical side of the interviews. I did this for BB bank as well, but focused primarily on Simmons. Had 30-60 minute conversations with at least 7 bankers. Was invited to 1st round interview on the phone with a director. Some very basic technical questions were asked. Passed. Was invited to superday. Had 30-minute interviews with everyone from analysts to MDs. Very good experience. They were open to all kinds of questions, even some that could be deemed non-kosher (e.g. what is your least favorite part of working here). Some technical questions were asked during 1-2 30-min interviews, but they were easy and very basic. If you study the WSO guide, you'll be fine. Superday was on Thursday, got the offer Friday night.
Interview Questions
Surprisingly, none were very difficult or unexpected. A lot were regarding fit, attitude, and how I would view working there.
