Simply put, as a company gets more reviews, the confidence of a "true score" increases so it is pulled closer to its simple average and away from the average of the entire dataset.

Interview
I went through a fairly structured but fast-moving hiring process for a hedge fund, and it felt very different from a bank or large corporate process.

First, I applied either directly through the fund’s website or via a recruiter. Within a week or two, a recruiter reached out to schedule an initial screening call. That first conversation was mostly behavioral: they asked about my background, why I was interested in hedge funds, what strategies I was most drawn to, and how I thought about risk and markets. They also checked practical details like location, compensation expectations, and timeline.

The first interview was with HR, it was pretty generic - asked about my experience, background, why I am seeking a new role. The second interview was with the PM - asked about my investment philosophy, what my process is for researching a stock, and asked me to pitch an idea that I find attractive at the moment.
Interview Questions
The questions are standard for a buyside Analyst role. Need to be able to talk intelligently about a stock or two.

There was a take home coding exam followed by several zoom interviews. All but one interview had their video cameras off. There was about a month of time between each interview. I got bad vibes all around.
Interview Questions
I was asked software design questions which weren't even apart of the role / job description since it wasn't a developer position.

3. 1.5hr Online assessment. this is still ongoing.

4. Onsite.
Interview Questions
the project detail. My interview asked my lots of implementation details and some system design questions. Meanwhile, the SDE position also needs to know how to preprocess data and extract feature.

This fund is basically a C++ shop but they do have C# position. but I mainly use python. Python questions were somewhat basic. The experience is really the dealbreaker for this position. The experience is including not only project experience but some efficient data structures that are being used in production.

Although I'm a python guy, they still ask you some c++ question like what the pointer size is.
