The Visa Playbook (Singapore Edition): Live Office Hours with a Top Immigration Attorney
We're hosting Jo Ann Adams, an immigration legal counsel in Singapore with nearly two decades advising on Singapore and APAC work passes - most recently as a Senior Manager at KPMG, and before that at Fragomen, as Associate General Counsel for Immigration at McKinsey & Company, and as a foreign attorney at Allen & Gledhill. She's handled immigration for clients across financial services, high tech, semiconductors and private wealth, including integrating the work pass populations of two international banks through a merger. Jo Ann holds an LL.M. from the University of Michigan Law School and a JD from the University of the Philippines, and is a Singapore Permanent Resident herself.
In other words: she has spent her career on exactly the passes WSO students need for IB, consulting, PE and finance roles in Singapore - and she's seen it from inside the firms doing the sponsoring.
She'll cover:
- Employment Pass vs S Pass - which one you realistically qualify for as a fresh grad, and what your employer has to do to sponsor you
- How COMPASS scoring works, and why your salary, your degree, your nationality and your employer's local hiring mix all affect your odds
- What the Fair Consideration Framework means for you as a foreign candidate competing against local hires
- Going from student to intern to full-time without a gap in your status
- How to tell whether a firm genuinely sponsors before you spend a recruiting cycle on it
- What to do if your offer is pulled, you're laid off, or your pass is cancelled
- The path to permanent residence, and the Overseas Networks & Expertise Pass - what it is and who it's realistically for
