WSO NYC Happy Hour TONIGHT 7PM

It's that time again--WSO Happy Hour time! We WILL ring in 2013 with good cheer, good laughs, and good drink. Let us put 2012 behind us celebrate the promise of success!

NYC Chairs In The Flesh and guerrillagrrl will be in attendance, and all are welcome.

Join us at our old standby pub, the Galway Hooker, located on 36th Street between 5th and Madison, to meet your fellow simians and down some food and drink. 21+ only, please; mention WallStreetOasis.com at the door, and you'll be directed to the pub room (ground floor, all the way in the back).

We have a two-hour drink special as soon as 20 of us arrive: $5 beers, wines, and well mixed dranks.

Meetups are always a fun way to meet (and carouse with) other members of the site. Good times are usually had by all, and they tend to go till around 10-11pm (or basically, whenever we feel like it). If you're stuck in the office, sneak out anyway, and we can all vouch for you.

Unsure how to conduct yourself at Happy Hour, or want to see witty recaps done by Frieds? Look here: http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/blog/wso-happy-hour-best-practices-and-re...

ETLoRxJkFY:
Hi There,

What's the dress code for the WSO Happy Hour meet ups?

Thanks!

Honestly, whatever you like, but most people come in business casual since they're usually just coming from work or want to look somewhat nice. I've shown up wearing black jeans and band shirts though, so anything's fine.

TNA:
I will be in NYC for another event, but will try and stop by.

Do you still live in Philly? I am actually attending the Wharton restructuring and distressed investing conference this Feb 22nd. On the 23rd Tiesto is playing so I am spending the whole weekend in Philly.

Too late for second-guessing Too late to go back to sleep.

Well - here's a brief write up of the affair tonight. It was extremely mellow and low key, as are 99% of the WSO Events. One host never showed while the other bailed out. You know which ones you are and we love you anyway! This would never get done if it weren't for you guys.

As to the event itself, it was low key. We were in what I humbly refer to as the "Red Sox Room." Seeing as Galloway Hooker has been a long standby for places we host a WSO event at, this goes back a while. I think it was the first happy hour that Flake was at when this happened, but Flake got a little drunk and ended up puking in the other room before we escorted him out claiming that he was a piss drunk Red Sox fan. Yeah - we were in that room, so it's got a little history. It was nice as we had about 20 people attend the event with a great deal of new faces.

It was pretty cool to see a slew of lurkers, fresh faces and a few regulars showing up to the happy hour. It seems like the last few have definitely gotten some good press and we've had a number of new people show up. While there were some people that I would have loved to see show up, it was nice meeting new people and hoping that they would end up posting more here on WSO. I can think of a few lurkers I met that I would love to see posting here more often - and yes, to those lurkers don't be afraid to ask questions and get advice from people here, we don't bite. As always, the conversation ranged from high finance to low brow with a lot of advice being given to cover a lot of ground, ranging from Retail Equity Research to things like how to break in to specific career paths and just general finance discussion.

Oh, and TNA showed up. As always, it's a blast to drink with TNA when other mitigating circumstances aren't there. He's a real cool guy to drink with and for those that missed it, hopefully you can either drink with him down in Philly (which I hope to do once my endeavor is up and running because Philly is one hell of a Beer town) or make your way to the WSO conference and drink with him in the city.

Yeah, sorry there are no crazy stories this time... Maybe next time!
