I don't like to ask too many questions around here, but I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on the matter, whether you're in that situation or you know someone, et cetera.

You'll have better luck just asking about the specific regions you mean.... There is no uniformity in culture just because somewhere has low tax... HK has low tax and they work like dogs. Dubai has low tax but the experience varies.
