Transition from data science to asset management

Hey everyone,

I am a data scientist/business analyst with 3 years of experience. I have been interested in finance since my second year of engineering but wasn't able to transition to finance post engineering.I have already given the GMAT (720) and thinking of applying to b schools in round 1. My post Mba goal is to work in asset management

Q: Due to financial constraints I have to stick to 1 year MBAs in UK/Europe. I wanted to know how feasible is the career change that I am aiming for through these 1 year programs given that there will be lesser opportunities for internships. Also, does MSc in finance work better for this transition as it gives a deeper understanding of finance? If yes, I noticed that most of the mfin programs have students with lesser/or zero experience - how does a career switcher like me fit in these courses ?

Will appreciate any kind of help

Thanks
