Additional Experience Outside of FT Role

I’m graduating undergrad and going into a full time consulting role. It’s a good firm but not a T2 or MBB. The role is a technology implementation consulting role and I’d like to eventually transition to strategy/generalist consulting. Wondering if anyone had advice on ways to gain experience outside of my FT position. (Ex: conferences, professional workshops, organizations to join, etc.) I want to be able to learn more about strategy consulting despite not having a strategy FT role. I also am looking for advice on ways to internally transfer to the strategy division of my firm. I know this is difficult to provide advice on given I am maintaining the anonymity of the firm but some general tips would help me.
