does bcg really care which location we put on? do they also care about the weight?
also, which states are less competitive?

Yes, location matters a lot. For example, when I applied for internships at MBB I applied to all NY and didn't get a single interview. My school is not a target school for NY offices. However, my school is a target school for regional MBB offices, and I applied for FT and got an MBB offer and turned interviews at the other two. Essentially, unless you go to HYPSM type school, your location you apply does matter as your school has a strength of which location it sends to or has a pipeline. NY SF Chicago and Boston are the most competitive (in that order).
