BCG or Oliver Wyman for FI Risk expertise for London
BCG looks like it is trying to gain market share in London in financial institutions - and mainly risk consulting space. What do you think? Would Oliver Wyman give better opportunities for learning? I am looking for a lateral shift from the industry.
.
OW FI is great, but BCG is BCG, how is fit there?
Ignore the above. OW is the undisputed leader in that space, while BCG aren't even on the radar of banks when seeking support on risk issues.
I'm with PorcineAviation here. If you are set on FI Risk you should go with OW
If all you want to do is FI risk, then do OW. If anything outside FI, or maybe even FI risk, BCG.
Thanks. I have been doing risk and I will be hired for my risk expertise. I will for sure be doing risk however BCG > Oliver Wyman in terms of prestige.
I really like finance as well so I wouldnt want to switch to some other specialisation...
Is BCG generally not on the radar for all FI or only FI Risk?
Which area of FI are you interested in? BCG has a strong insurance practice, but as before are nowhere in investment banking whether strategy or risk - OW is leader in both.
If all you ever wish to do in life is risk then definitely OW - reputation but more importantly career trajectory is far quicker at OW FS. However, for all other reasons - BCG.
