"We would like to invite you to participate in the Deloitte Summer Experience Program! This program is an invitation only event that will take place after working hours.
Date: August 6th – August 8th
Where: New York office (25 Broadway) of Deloitte.
The purpose of the event is to get you acclimated with the Deloitte culture, learn more about the different service areas of consulting and work through a consulting case with our professionals. It is a great way to stay connected with Deloitte prior to next year and as you get ready to apply and interview for consulting internship opportunities.
Please reply to XXXX to confirm your participation in this program. We ask that you RSVP by Wednesday, July 25th.
You will need to participate in all 3 evenings of the event. If you are unable to attend all 3 evenings, we will not be able to have you participate. Dinner will be provided each night.
If you are in the New York area for the summer or have the capability to attend the event, we strongly encourage your participation! Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide transportation or accommodations and will not provide reimbursement for your travel."
Why wouldn't you go? Are you outside of the New York area? If you have an interest in Consulting, Networking, Deloitte, Case Studies, etc, it sounds like a solid experience. I'm assuming your username implies that you attend Wharton. Even then, its worth the trip if you can convert the experience to an offer.
You should go just to meet people. A few schools got that e-mail. I know Wharton and Cornell both got it.
It IS an extended recruiting event. It's a way for you to network with people before hiring season starts, so that when interviews do roll around, you won't just be another name on a resume to them. No reason not to attend.
@wharmass I attended the conference in Dallas. One of the most profound things I took away from the program was the chance to network with my peers. There aren't many times where your able to network with the top business students across the nation. For that reason alone I would go.
Knowing that the "top business students across the nation" will be there is reason enough not to go, sheesh.
