How common is it to lateral from a no-name to a BB?

I know any job hunt is difficult blah blah, but I'm wondering how unheard of it is in consulting to lateral from a no-name boutique consulting firm to a big firm? Is it pretty much impossible without going to B school? Do the Big 4/McKinsey/Bain/BCG look at people with previous consulting experience at a no-name?

I'm applying to no-name boutiques and wondering how helpful it will actually be in terms of a career in the long run.
