Huron Consulting any good?
Was wondering what are your guys' thoughts on Huron Consulting and their Higher Education Strategy and Operations group. Is this a great starting point for a career in management / strategy consulting or not really?
What are the common exit opps from Huron Higher Education Strategy & Ops group?
I wouldn't say it sits very high on the prestige scale, but you'll definitely make a good living and learn a lot from it. As much as people obsess over 'prestige,' I'm sure partners at Huron are pulling $500k+. Just make sure you like higher ed, because that is a rather niche industry so it might be hard to switch out of it.
Hi. Thanks for your reply and insights! Do you know how difficult it would be to transfer out of higher ed to an industry group (e.g. healthcare, etc)? I don't have any interest in higher ed but am interested in a "Strategy and Operations" role. Do you think that the role at Huron is still a good opportunity for someone who likes strategy but not the higher ed segment? I want to eventualy be able to pivot to a T2 consultancy and was wondering what are my chances from the higher ed strategy group?
It's hard to say, but the best option would be to not start in higher ed anyways. Unless you can't find anything else, why would you start in an industry you know you don't like?
It's definitely possible to switch out of Huron, but it might be more likely to switch into another group within the company.
