IB at unknown firm vs. strategy consulting at a big 4? undergrad at target
I'm a rising junior at a target looking to go into IB/management consulting. Obviously the goal is M/B/B or the next best firm. Have a ~3.4 GPA, and I worked in strategy consulting at a big 4 previously. I can either go back (this isn't in the US - but the work was amazing) or work at a small IB firm in New York.
I'd love to hear thoughts on this
IB if you want IB, consulting if you want consulting. There's other factors such as fit but that's as straightforward as it gets. If your ultimate goal is MBB, then consulting, especially because the IB firm isn't well known.
thanks! If I were to do consulting would it be significantly difficult to get an IB offer next summer? I ask this because I'm not sure what I want to do next summer, let alone after I graduate.
Then why not try banking now to see which one you like better? You haven't even started your career yet, and you're at a target - most doors aren't going to really start shutting for you for a few years at least.
