MBB FT Signing Bonus Timeline?

Hey all, simple question that I was a little embarrassed (I felt it was improper? Maybe I'm weird lol) about asking the HR people at my firm. But in your experience, how long after signing your offer does your signing bonus get sent to you? I'm just wondering if I should expect it a little before my starting date or if I can expect to see it sooner? Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure how it works at other firms, but from my experience with a one-time relocation bonus, it's paid as a single lump sum added on top of your first pay cheque date (15th or 31st of the month you begin).

Perhaps others could weigh in on their experience.

Not sure if this is super useful, but was a summer associate at MBB after sophomore summer. Signing bonus didn't hit until well into the Fall if I remember correctly, possibly after October. That being said it, might be different for FT. Regardless, expect it to me taxed. Got 56% of the bonus amount after taxes (got all back during tax return season).

100% ask HR, it's literally their job to help you and there's nothing embarrassing about asking when you're going to get paid. Don't worry about asking questions or help, companies have support systems in place for exactly these reasons and you should feel free to utilize them. I had the same question, asked HR and got a prompt response.

Thanks for all the advice guys! I just went ahead and emailed the HR person. It doesn't make sense to have professional temerity, especially about compensation that is being given per the signed offer letter. I was really nervous about making some big mistake since I'm a first-gen, low-income grad coming into MBB. Didn't want to come across as rude or give them some misconception about me being greedy and then have my offer withdrawn for some reason. It sounds stupid when I say it out loud, so thanks for helping me change my mind. I appreciate it!
