McKinsey: The Art of Preparation

Hello,

I have accepted a full-time position with McKinsey as a BA starting in August. Having come from a primarily finance heavy background, I am wondering if there are specific areas to focus on leading into the job? Advice I've received to date includes: Brush up on excel skills, PowerPoint, read the McKinsey specific books (McKinsey Way/Engagement) and RELAX. I am also planning on doing the GMAT before the start date. Any and all insights are encouraged. Thanks in advance for all the help!

Don’t mean to hijack the thread but can someone explain the global staffing model for McKinsey. Does that mean you ever travel internationally or not? Do you get to go to cool places or are they going to send you from Toronto to Wyoming or Chicago to Saskatchewan.
