Referrals from Partners/Associate Partners/Senior Managers

Hey all,

I have been wondering whether a referral from a Partner/Associate Partner/Senior Manager at MBB sends your percentages of getting looked at to 90% at the very least or not. Now, does this percentage depend on other credentials (GPA, school, experience) or not?

What would the chances be for someone from non-target who has decent work experience and GPA 3.6-3.7? Is it doable?

I may be wrong on this, but I believe if your school has a dedicated recruiting team and has OCR that a referral wont do much in terms of getting your application looked at (at least at McKinsey). However if your school doesn’t have an assigned recruiter or pipeline then any referral from the analyst level onwards will guarantee that you’ll get a set of human eyes on it as opposed to being auto-screened. No bearing though on how favorably it will be looked at.
