The hours are rough, you probably shouldn't expect to be able to spend time together during the week. That said, you can find time to talk over phone, and unlike banking weekends are generally protected so you can keep things going if you make sure to spend meaningful time together.

Almost every post-MBA consultant I work with is married or seriously dating if that helps you.

Why McK in particular?

This is an area where most of the top consulting firms are similar. If you are traveling M-Th, you are not home to see friends, do stuff, or be with a significant other. You are either at the client site or in your hotel room.

When gone during the week, I would text my wife a couple times during the day or do a quick Hangouts chat back and forth. Keeps the touchpoints going. At night in the hotel, we would do a Hangouts video chat. It really makes a difference. It is not easy, but if you work at it, it is not that bad.

The most important thing is when you get home on Thursday nights to be super-present with the other person, friends and family until you shove off to the airport again on Monday morning.
