What career advice do you wish you were given when you started in consulting?

I’ll start: Not all types of consulting are equal, learn which skills are the most in demand and push yourself towards one that interests you and away from roles that are highly admin in nature

You need to work hard, but don't kill yourself. With the exception of very few firms who implement the Cravath, Swaine & Moore "up or out" approach, you can be a pretty good performer and still have a great career. If you get middle of the road reviews with some instances of excellence here and there you will still be promoted in time, still get great bonuses and be a valuable team member. I say this because I've seen so many Juniors burn out trying to be the top 1% of the firm only to get 20% bonus vs. 15% for those who didn't go crazy and had a sustainable approach to work.
