You need to work hard, but don't kill yourself. With the exception of very few firms who implement the Cravath, Swaine & Moore "up or out" approach, you can be a pretty good performer and still have a great career. If you get middle of the road reviews with some instances of excellence here and there you will still be promoted in time, still get great bonuses and be a valuable team member.
