Breaking into Corporate development through MBA from an Engineering background

I have a background in Electrical Engineering and technical experience in telecoms. I am in an M7 MBA school and was not able to get an internship in Corp. Dev. What can I do to improve my fulltime chances?

I'm not sure how prevalent this is but if worse comes to worse, you can go work for a company taking a FP&A/Strategic finance role and try to network your way into the Corp Dev group.

At my last company, we were always open to hiring from within even if they weren't finance heavy in their background (hired a commercial analyst for example).

It's definitely a gamble but if you run out of choices but as the others mentioned banking to corp dev is the most traditional route.
