Is it possible to go FP&A > S&O or CorpDev without an MBA?
For context, I don't have an IB background. Closest I got was doing TAS / FDD at a notable firm. Currently doing FP&A, but interested in pivoting to a more S&O or CorpDev type career path. Obviously, the most common background for folks in these roles are IB or MC. So would I need to go top a M7 / T10 > do a few years in IB or MC to successfully pivot?
I have seen folks move from FP&A to Corp Dev internally after building up a great reputation and working on a few projects with Corp Dev. I imagine it would be much more difficult/borderline impossible to move from FP&A to Corp Dev at a new company
I did this, no MBA, started in FP&A and now work beside grads from M7s at a F500 doing about 20 deals a year. PM me if you want Burnt Out.
New account, so I can't PM you for a few days unfortunately. Do you mind briefly sharing how you did this and what your previous work experiences entailed?
I can have a more detailed discussion with you, if you're willing, once my restrictions are lifted.
Probably possible, but also an uphill battle. What's drawing you to corp dev over FP&A? If you're that interested, probably worth it to just bite the bullet and do an MBA.
