Tech Corp Dev Salaries?

Just got off the phone with a recruiter for a corp dev role at a high-growth tech company, and when I told her my salary expectations she seems to be shocked lmao. Guessing I severely overshot my expectations, but didn't expect my number to be that crazy given most of their Corp Dev / Strategic Finance team comes from IB/PE.

What's a reasonable salary expectation for an Associate-level tech corp dev role? Are these open to significant negotiation after receiving the offer?

Corp dev roles have salaries that seem to be all over the place. Large cap tech companies have the highest corp dev salaries from what I've seen. Typically over 100k base plus bonus and small option amount is normal for an associate level position. Not sure the size of the company you are talking to, but your expectation seems reasonable to me. Just as a data point, I am at a large cap manufacturing company and am at 100k base with 10% target bonus and don't have IB experience.

Agreed, I think you'll hear from me and a few other folks who have been corp dev echo that there is no standard salary/comp.

They are all over the place and pretty much company specific, also you have to take into account how acquisitive the company is and how M&A is viewed within the company.

If M&A is a huge driver for growth and they have an EVP of Corp Dev that sits on the executive level, chances are they will probably pay up for talent.

If the company is a run of the mill company, who does a few opportunistic acquisitions per year, you probably will be on par with other finance folks within the organization.
