Corporate Banking case study interview at Citi!!!!

Has anyone done a Corporate Banking case study interview at Citi bank for an Analyst role?

I’ve been invited to a case study round involving a timed case review, a short presentation of recommendations, and Q&A with the team, Any advice on how best to prepare or what the interviewers typically focus on during the presentation/Q&A would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance.

For a Corporate Banking case study interview at Citi, here's what you need to focus on based on the most helpful WSO content:

Preparation Tips

  1. Understand the Case Study Format:

    • You’ll likely be given a case involving strategy and corporate finance elements.
    • Expect to analyze financials, assess risks, and provide recommendations tailored to the client’s needs.
  2. Key Areas to Focus On:

    • Macroeconomic Conditions: Be prepared to discuss how broader economic trends (e.g., interest rates, inflation, geopolitical risks) impact the client or industry in question.
    • Industry-Specific Insights: If the case involves a specific sector (e.g., real estate, manufacturing), understand the key drivers and risks for that industry.
    • Risk Mitigation: Highlight strategies to manage risks effectively, such as avoiding overexposure to volatile markets or sectors.
  3. Structure Your Presentation:

    • Start with a concise summary of the case and your understanding of the client’s objectives.
    • Present your recommendations clearly, supported by data and logical reasoning.
    • Conclude with actionable next steps or a summary of your key points.
  4. Defend Your Position:

    • During the Q&A, interviewers may play devil’s advocate to test your reasoning and confidence. Be ready to justify your recommendations with sound logic and evidence.
  5. Practice Articulation:

    • Confidence and clarity in delivery are critical. Practice explaining your thought process and recommendations in a structured and articulate manner.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Brush up on corporate finance fundamentals, such as financial modeling, valuation techniques, and credit analysis.
  • Be familiar with bond concepts like duration and convexity, as Citi is known to test these areas.

Behavioral Component:

  • Demonstrate confidence, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. These qualities are highly valued in interviews.

Additional Resources:

  • Review Citi-specific interview insights on the WSO Company Database.
  • Practice case studies with a focus on logical structuring and clear communication.

By combining strong technical preparation with a confident and articulate presentation style, you’ll be well-positioned to excel in your case study interview. Good luck!
