Totally incompetent Analyst in my Analyst class

I recently joined a firm alongside a few analysts forming the new analyst class. There's this one analyst on the team that I have to work with frequently who is entirely incompetent despite having previous experience in BB banking and research. This extends to how he thinks of companies, due diligence depth, and can't agree with anyone on anything (even when he is dead wrong). He lacks the fundamental knowledge of finance/accounting to understand how to determine the credit strength of a company. Yet he is very stubborn and refuses to continue with the project the way he wants it to be, so I have to compromise constantly. (not going into specific detail, not trying to get doxxed)

How should I deal with such an analyst when I have a project upcoming? And a career to be built?

Every group will have at least one guy you think is an idiot or a jerk.  80% of the time your opinion of that guy will be correct; but you'll be surprised how often you just misread him and he ends up getting promoted ahead of you.

In any case, he's a junior analyst, and you're a junior analyst. Managing his performance is not in your job description.
